Former Hannover 96 captain Cherundolo retires

Former German Bundesliga Hannover 96 captain Steve Cherundolo announced his retirement from professional soccer on Wednesday.

Cherundolo played for the American men's national soccer team in three FIFA World Cups. He helped the team to win the CONCACAF Gold Cup title in 2005.

Cherundolo, who was considered as the best ever American player to play at right back, had 82 caps for the U.S. national team.
