China's national museum unveils centuries-old ceramic heritage
The National Museum of China unveiled a collection of ancient ceramics, produced and excavated in north China's Shanxi Province, in an exhibition that opened Thursday.
Co-organized by the national museum and Shanxi's cultural heritage authority, the exhibition includes over 150 pieces of ceramics crafted around the 12th century in today's Hejin City, which was a longtime porcelain hub since the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and enjoyed its heyday during the Song Dynasty (960-1279) and the Jin Dynasty (1115-1234).
As the result of an archaeological excavation in 2016, these ceramics bridged the gap in the region's porcelain-making history and provided rich information on the techniques, craft level and the entire industrial chain of porcelains during the Song and Jin dynasties, the national museum said.
