The next Saindak project in Gilgit
ISLAMABAD, Apr 8th (Gwadar Pro) – On Apr 2nd, leading group of Metallurgical Coporation of China Tongsin Resource Ltd. (MCCT), who has constructed and operated Saindak Project in Chagai, visited Islamabad and met Muhammad Khalid Khurshid Khan, chief minister of Gilgit province. According to the conversation, the next mining project is likely to be constructed in Gilgit.
On the occasion, MCCT and Khalid discussed nonferrous metal cooperation in Gilgit and reached a consensus that just as Saindak project has boosted the local economy, nonferrous metal cooperation in Gilgit will also benefit local prosperity.
Wang JiCheng, Chairman of MCCT, said at the meeting that MCCT has been involved in the mining industry in Pakistan for nearly 20 years and has accumulated many successful experiences. Therefore, MCCT has confidence and aspiration to further support the development of the mining industry in Pakistan, consequently making greater contributions to CPEC and bilateral economic cooperation.
Khalid highly endorsed the view of Wang and introduced related policies and business environment in Gilgit. He promised to ensure infrastructure conditions and policy support so that the two sides can construct mining project to prosper the local economy. Khalid said: “Gilgit welcomes MCCT to invest and construct mining projects in the province, while supporting it to the greatest extent.”
The spokesman of MCCT told Gwadar Pro after the meeting: “Gilgit has a wide variety of geological features, showing great mineral potential, including a variety of metallic minerals, industrial minerals, precious and semi-precious gems. Once the resources are utilized effectively and rationally, the living standard of the local people will be improved substantially, meanwhile the domestic mineral industry will be greatly developed.
