German shares lose 1.53 pct Wednesday

German shares lost on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index down 192.72 points, or 1.53 percent, to close at 12,417.13 points.

German industrial giant Thyssenkrupp lost the most among the blue chips, down by 3.16 percent, followed by multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer and automotive manufacturer Volkswagen, which lost 2.53 percent and 2.39 percent respectively.

Personal-care company Beiersdorf, marketplace organizer for the trading of shares and securities Deutsche Boerse group and reinsurance company Munich Re were the top three winners, rising 0.94 percent, 0.76 percent and 0.62 percent respectively.

Bayer was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 304.91 million euros (357.81 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
