Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah said on Monday that a Kuwaiti plane will carry a Yemeni Houthi delegation to Sweden on Tuesday for UN-sponsored peace talks, the Kuwait News Agency reported.

The Kuwaiti Ambassador to Yemen will accompany the Houthi delegation on the plane, which will leave Yemen's rebel-held capital Sanaa for Sweden's capital Stockholm, Al-Jarallah said.

Earlier in the day, a UN-chartered plane carrying 50 wounded Houthi rebel fighters left Sanaa for the Omani capital Muscat for treatment.

The UN plane took off just a few hours after UN Special Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths arrived in Sanaa.

Griffiths' office in the Jordanian capital Amman told Xinhua by phone that the talks in Sweden would likely start in a few days.

"The UN envoy was expected to accompany the Houthi rebel delegation from Sanaa to Sweden. But there was no exact information about the next movements of Griffiths," his office said.

Meanwhile, the Houthi delegation has received guarantees from the UN about a safe departure and return to Sanaa, a Houthi official said on condition of anonymity.

Saudi Arabia has been leading an Arab military coalition that intervened in Yemen in March 2015 to support the government of Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi after the Houthi rebels forced him into exile.
