The United States military said Friday its special forces conducted an airstrike against al-Shabab terrorists in northwest of Somali capital, Mogadishu, killing four terrorists.

The U.S. Africa Command (Africom) which oversees American troops on the African continent said the Thursday strike was conducted in cooperation with Somali government about 120 km northwest Mogadishu.

"We currently assess no civilians were injured or killed in this airstrike," Africom said in a statement.

Africom which has not conducted strikes in the Horn of Africa nation since June said the U.S. forces will continue to use all authorized and appropriate measures to protect U.S. citizens and to disable terrorist threats.
