About 10 Yemenis were injured on Thursday in airstrikes launched by the Saudi-led Arab coalition on a fishing pier in the Yemeni port of Hodeidah, a security official told Xinhua.

"Airstrikes carried out by Saudi fighter jets hit the fishing pier in Hodeidah, causing damage and injuring more than 10 civilians at the scene," the source said on condition of anonymity.

He added that the airstrikes aimed at targeting Houthi rebels in the area, but apparently missed their main target.

Meanwhile, warships of the Arab coalition shelled Houthi-controlled sites near a public hospital in Hodeidah, causing panic among residents.

The pro-Houthi Al Masirah TV reported that the Thawrah hospital was targeted with a number of airstrikes, causing an unknown number of casualties.

The Saudi-led coalition intensified airstrikes and naval bombardment against the Red Sea coastal city of Hodeidah in an attempt to expel the rebels militarily.

On June 13, the Arab coalition, backing the internationally-recognized government of Yemen's President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, launched a major assault to recapture Hodeidah from the Houthis.
