The 8th edition of Lisbon's Fish and Flavors festival (Peixe em Lisboa) came to an end on Sunday with a live cooking show by Portuguese chef Belmiro de Jesus.

The festival welcomed some of world's most renowned chefs for the 11-day event, including Spanish three Michelin-starred Joan Roca and French two Michelin-starred Mauro Colagreco.

"Peixe em Lisboa is a way for us to celebrate the quality of our fish and sea food through the dishes and creations of 10 restaurants," Duarte Calvao, director of the festival, told Xinhua, adding that the event had received around 25,000 visitors.

The festival, which took place in central Lisbon at Terreiro de Paco square and kicked off on April 9, held live cooking shows, debates and a gastronomy fair where visitors could try and purchase typical Portuguese foods and beverages, including wine, liquors, chocolates and cheese.

The festival also had its touch of "punk" with Sangue na Guelra - Young Chefs with Guts. Last weekend, Roberto Flore and Josh Evans from the Nordic Food Lab in Copenhagen inspired the public by exploring different flavors and this Saturday, Japanese chef Tomoaki Kanazawa demonstrated Japanese fish killing techniques using a long needle.
