1.To achieve high-level sci-tech self-reliance
 
High-level science and technology self-reliance is the key to Chinese path to modernization, as pointed out by President Xi. NPC deputies and CPPCC members express the necessity to enhance basic research, integrate innovation resources, and strengthen the principal position of enterprises in sci-tech innovation. China should grasp key technologies in a drive to achieve high-level science and technology self-reliance.
 
2.To enhance effectiveness of proactive fiscal policy
 
Facing the tight fiscal balance, China endeavors to improve the quality and effectiveness of its fiscal policy. Work will be done to make good use of fiscal policy, so as to enhance the macro- and micro- effectiveness of funds. Efforts should be focused on stabilizing growth, optimizing structure, benefiting people's livelihood, preventing risks, etc, to ensure that fiscal funds and policy are applied to the best effect.

1.China's State Council has rolled out a package of policy measures promoting large-scale equipment upgrades and consumer goods trade-ins, in which efforts would be made in four areas, including equipment upgrades, consumer goods trade-ins, recycling, and standard improvement.
 
2.Suggestions on promoting high-quality development of rural e-commerce were issued by the Ministry of Commerce and other eight departments on March 13. According to these opinions, a rural e-commerce service system with sound facilities, active consumer flows and efficient service will be built in five years.
 
3.According to the data from Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge border inspection station, the number of HK private vehicles traveling across the border to Guangdong has been increasing since July 1 last year, as the policy started to implement. As of March 9, 2024, the number has surpassed 500,000.

1.The recently released "Monitoring Report on the Economic Development of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle" shows that in 2023, the gross domestic product of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle reached RMB 8198.67 billion, an increase of 6.1 percent compared with the previous year, accounting for 6.5 percent and 30.4 percent of the nation and western regions, respectively, and continues to play the leading and demonstration role.
 
2. China's consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.7 percent year on year in February, reversing a 0.8 percent decline in January, and the core CPI deducting food and energy prices went up 1.2 percent year on year in February, marking the largest increase in two years, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
 
3.China's fixed-asset investment in railways was RMB 65.2 billion in the first two months of 2024, up 9.5 percent compared with the same period last year, data from the China State Railway Group Co Ltd shows. During this period, a batch of major projects, including the Chongqing-Kunming high-speed railway and the Xi'an-Chongqing high-speed railway, have been advanced, amid efforts to promote the modernization of the country's rail infrastructure.
 
4. The number of enterprises in Beijing has exceeded 2.1 million, with nearly 40 percent being technology-based enterprises. Since January this year, an average of over 800 businesses have been registered every day,according to the Beijing Administration for Market Regulation.
 
5. From January to February, the country's foreign trade in goods stood at RMB 6.61 trillion (about 930.96 billion U.S. dollars), according to the General Administration of Customs. In the first two months, the country's trade in goods continued the upward momentum of the fourth quarter of last year, hitting a historic high for the same period.
 
6. The number of sports facilities across the country increased rapidly in 2023, with the per capita area of sports venues reaching 2.89 square meters. Additionally, the total length of fitness trails reached 371,000 km, up 107 percent from 2019, according to Gao Zhidan, head of the General Administration of Sport of China.
 
7.Trade volume in the Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Zone of Ningbo-Central and Eastern European Countries hit RMB 8.86 billion from January to February, a year-on-year increase of 12.5 percent.
 
8. The Ministry of Finance issued this year's first batch of renminbi-denominated treasury bonds in Hong Kong on March 13. The scale of the bonds was RMB 12 billion (about 1.69 billion U.S. dollars).
 
9.Water supply capacity of water conservancy projects in China exceeds 900 billion cubic meters, according to the press conference on the guarantee and progress of national water security held by the State Council Information Office on March 14. 
 
10. A new international freight train route linking Harbin, the capital city of Heilongjiang Province, China,with Tilburg in the Netherlands, was launched at 11:00 am on March 14, becoming the first China-Europe freight train service connecting the border province with a city in the Netherlands. The train will travel 10,257 km via the port of Manzhouli and reach Tilburg in 15 days.
